Council Committees

Advancement Committee

Advancement is the process by which youth members of the BSA progress from rank to rank and is the method by which we promote and encourage the ongoing involvement and commitment that leads to meaningful achievement and recognition.

Aquatics Committee

The mission of the Grand Canyon Council Aquatics Committee is to provide safe, exciting, and challenging aquatic experiences and training in support of individual scouting units as they participate in year-round aquatic activities.

COPE & Climbing Committee

COPE is an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, a program in the Boy Scouts of America. It consists of group initiative games, trust events, and high and low ropes course.

Cub Camping

Youth join a unit because Scouting provides the excitement and adventure of camping in the great outdoors. They want to share that excitement with friends. The key to fulfillment is in the hands of the Council, District Scouters and Parents like yourselves. You can unlock the door to adventures so that one day they will say: “It was all that I hoped for and more!” Welcome to Cub Scout Camping and Outdoors!

High Adventure Camps Committee

The High Adventure Camps Committee purpose is to promote and nurture the participation and interaction by Grand Canyon Council Scouts and Adults at BSA High Adventure Bases and Camps for backcountry treks, other outdoor experiences, trainings and personal enrichment.

Outdoor Ethics Committee

Outdoor Ethics and Leave No Trace are key components of all core BSA outdoor programs. Consider the combined effects of millions of outdoor visitors. One poorly located campsite or campfire may have little significance, but thousands of such instances seriously degrade the outdoor experience for all. Leaving no trace is everyone’s responsibility.

Religious Activities Committee

The Religious Activities Committee is a team of volunteers from various religious organizations that coordinates Duty to God activities with the assistance of a Council Staff Adviser.

Shooting Sports Committee

Shooting sports have the ability to attract and retain youth in the movement. Millions of young people participate in one or more of the sports annually—archery, rifle shooting, shotgun activities, etc.—guided by adult volunteers who have the skills and knowledge to provide quality programs in a safe and effective way.

STEM Committee

Grand Canyon Council recognizes that Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) touches just about every aspect of our daily life and seeks to provide avenues where our youth and adults can explore and expand their knowledge to become better leaders for tomorrow.

Training Committee

Every youth deserves a trained leader, and our goal is to have 100% of our leaders trained to that they are prepared, knowledgeable, confident, and providing the best program available to youth in Arizona!

Civic Service Committee

Our goal as the Civic Service Committee is to create opportunities for Scouts to participate in civic service experiences through community impact projects and public engagement activities that strengthen our community relationships, create a positive impact, and further the aims of Grand Canyon Council.
