Approved Cub Scout Camping Locations
Introduction
All National, State, County and Regional Parks are approved for Cub Scout camping by the Grand Canyon Council, Boy Scouts of America. In addition to these camping locations, the following parks, national forest sites, and private parks have been reviewed and approved:
Heard Scout Pueblo
1901 E. Dobbins Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85040
Description: Heard Scout Pueblo is located in the heart of Phoenix at the base of South Mountain.
Facilities/Programs Offered: Tent Camping, Cabin Camping, Shooting Sports, Hiking Trails, Aquatics, Nature Area, Cope, Climbing and Restrooms
Directions: From Phoenix, take I-10 E, S32nd St and E Baseline Rd to S 20th St. Continue on S 20th St to the destination.
Camp Geronimo
2599 W Weber Creek Road, Payson, AZ 85541
Description: Camp Geronimo boasts nearly 200 acres of forest and meadows. In the shadows of the Mogollon Rim, trails lead from camp to the top of the rim where Scouts can stand at the very edge of the Colorado Plateau.
Facilities/Programs Offered: Tent Camping, Cabin Camping, Shooting Sports, Hiking Trails, Nature Area, Swimming Pool, Fishing, Restrooms and Showers
Directions: From Phoenix, take State Highway 87 north to Payson, continue through Payson about 12 miles until you reach the Control Road turn-off marked by highway marker 265. Turn right. Follow Control Road (dirt) for seven miles. Turn left onto Weber Creek Rd, near mailboxes and into camp. Allow approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours driving time.
R-C Scout Ranch
19887 E AZ Hwy 260, Payson, AZ 85541
Description: The R-C Scout Ranch is a former working cattle-ranch turned youth camp property. Resting prominently at the base of Christopher Mountain, R-C hosts groups year round and enriches the lives of all those who pass through.
Facilities/Programs Offered: Tent Camping, Cabin Camping, Horseback Riding, Shooting Sports, Fishing, Hiking, Nature Area, Showers and Restrooms
Directions: R-C Scout Ranch is on Highway 260 approximately 19.6 miles east of the intersection of 260 and Highway 87 in Payson, AZ. The entrance is between mile marker 271 and 272 on the south side of the road.
Camp Raymond
7709 S Boy Scout Camp Rd Parks, AZ 86018
Description: Camp Raymond is located on the edge of Sycamore Canyon nestled into the cool pines. Campsites are located under tall ponderosa pine tress and most are a short distance from the center of camp.
Facilities/Programs Offered: Tent Camping, Picnic Tables, Nature Area, Shooting Sports, Hiking, Nature Area, Aquatics, Fishing, Showers and latrines
Directions: From Phoenix, take I-17 north to interstate 40. Go west on I-40 to Parks exit 178. Go south approximately 10 miles following the county road signs that indicate Scout camp. Allow about 3 hours of driving time.

The Grand Canyon Council is always looking for new camping opportunities for its Cub Packs. If your site is not listed on the approved camping location list, then the Pack Overnight Campout Site Appraisal Form must be completed at least two weeks prior to the camping trip by a BALOO trained adult and submitted to gcc.program@scouting.org for approval.
